Cityside Governance Structure

To help visualize what the Cityside Condominium Association’s governance structure is based on the bylaws, Jessica created a diagram.

Cityside Governance Structure Diagram

The process is as follows:

  1. Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled and communicated to owners.

  2. Ballot options are provided to owners (we are currently using physical mailed ballots).

    i. This can be migrated to electronic voting in the future with more owner participation in meetings.

  3. Owners cast their vote via ballot.

    i. In order to actually have our meeting we must make quorum. Based on the number of units in our community and our current bylaws we need at least 75 ballots submitted by owners.

  4. Owners votes are what determine the directors of the board at the AGM.

  5. Directors then choose the officers at the first directors’ meeting, which follows the AGM.

    i. The blue circle in the diagram above is the convergence of the decisions made by the directors to select the officer roles amongst themselves.

  6. In addition to choosing the officer roles, the directors have the ability to appoint committees (i.e. a social committee, a landscaping committee, an operations and maintenance committee, a legal committee, etc.) to assist with specific neighborhood issues.

    i. The committee members do not have to be directors or officers on the board.
